Avia Club Nepal Pvt. Ltd.

With the government permission to operate commercial flight in 1996 Avia Club Nepal has been involved in commercial flights since last 15 years. Avia Club Nepal has been rendering its flights for sight seeing, photography and film shooting, expeditions, scientific researches, cross country, free fall and parachute jumping purpose. At 2nd April 2007 the company has acquired its training permission from Ministry of Civil Aviation and Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal as per the rules and regulation of Government of Nepal. With the same confidence club has now opened its school for training courses.

Nepal is blessed with one of the most beautiful weathers in the world. For airsports this country offers the magnificent weather and spectacular scenes. Hence, more and more people every day are getting attracted to Nepal to explore airsports. Because of the fact that this sports around the world is getting more popular, Nepal has immense potentiality to emerge as a hot airsports destination.

The basic concept of Ultralight is based on simple flying machine. This is an open aircraft with two seats which while flying gives you a pure joy of real flying like a bird. This is one of the cheapest way to explore people’s flying dreams as well.

Minimum qualification needed for Ultralight training – +2 class of Higher secondary school or equivalent and fluency in spoken English. After passing Ultralight Pilot Course in Avia Club Nepal the student can apply to Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) for issuing an ULTRALIGHT PILOT LICENCE.

Ultralight training is conducted on weight shift and 3-axis aircraft. You can choose yourself on which type of aircraft you want to be trained.

Ulralight Pilot Course

a) Introductory flight30 min
b) Ground Course – 16 hours
c) Flight Training – 25 hours

Before training, every student must do an introductory flight to feel and understand what Ultralight flight is.

Ground Course – 16 hours

Theoretical subject required for the beginners:

  1. Principles of Flight & Aerodynamics of ULA – 3Hours
  2. Air Law – 3 Hours
  3. Navigation – 2 Hours
  4. Meteorology – 2 Hours
  5. Airframes, Engines & Instruments – 3 Hours
  6. Communication – 2 Hours
  7. Human Performance Limitations & First Aid – 1 Hour
  8. Written & Oral examination

Total cost of ground class per student is 358 US$. Minimum group of students must be 6 persons.

Flight Training – 25 hours

Within the scope of general course of the Ultralight pilot training program: Flight with instructor – 10 hours, Solo Flight – 10 hours, on the route – 5 hours.

  • Flight training cost per 1 hour – $140 US.  This cost includes pilot, Student and third party insurance.
  • Flight training for 25 hours – $3500 US
  • Total cost of Ultralight training – $3858 US

After completing the training in Avia Club Nepal, we will issue Club’s certificate and provide the recommendation letter for issuing Ultralight pilot License to CAAN.

If you are an excellent flyer and looking for a career in Airsports Aviation you can continue training with us but at a higher level of competency. We believe that it is not enough just to pass the CAAN exam. Our instructors will teach you to the point of proficiency. This training also will make you more familiar with the Air Traffic Control System and Operations. You will also learn everything about the weather so that you will be able to make better decisions. Instructions are based on one-on-one and tailored to your needs. At the completion of your additional course you are a complete Ultralight pilot, ready to move on to your career.

2 day – Introductory flight
3 day – Ground classes
4 day – Ground classes
5 day – Ground classes
4 day – Exam
5 day – Result
6 day – Flying classes

The Flight training.

The flight training course will be conducted at Pokhara and Meghauli airports.  The cross-country operation will be from Pokhara, Bhairahawa, Bharatpur, Meghauli with the possibility of using alternates suitable field near river bank for exercises. (See the map)

Theoretical and flying preparation on the present course conducted in conformity with instruction as defined by the CAAN, general rules of flying in airspace; documents of the government controlling aviation, International league of ULA regulate flights and guarantee safety.

Bridge Courses

To upgrade previous flying experience by flying in different terrains you can apply for a bridge course of flying and/or ground training.  The assessment will specify the minimum amount of dual and solo flying training and ground training required on the approved course. The pilot must fly with our instructor for examination of his/her skill and proficiency, if necessary our instructor will provide minimum amount of flight exercises for conducting cross-country flight.
